Wind Damage

There is some leaf stripping from the high winds Monday night.  This damage is more of a cosmetic issue than anything else. The corn should recover just fine and will begin to release some new leaves that will take over the photosynthesis process.

Recurrent Weeds

Many wonder why even after many years of weed control, a field can still have weed issues. According to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, most agricultural soils contain seed reservoirs of up to 12,500 per square foot! This helps to understand why the recurrent weeds are there after many years.

Leafed-out Corn

Leafed-out corn is caused by a multitude of things.  Compaction issues, decrase in temperature after germination, as well as genetics in the seed. Once the plant has leafed out it is no longer a viable plant.
